Terms and Conditions for the Unidentified Bodies and Missing Persons Identification Portal and DNA Database (UMID)

1. Introduction

Welcome to the UMID website. This Site is operated by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (AIIMS, New Delhi) and its participating centers. By accessing or using this Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use this Site.

2. Purpose of the Site

The primary purpose of this Site is to facilitate the identification of unidentified bodies and missing persons through a centralized database and DNA profiling. The Site aims to assist law enforcement agencies, families of missing persons, and other relevant stakeholders in the identification process.

3. User Registration and Account

a. Registration: To use certain features of the Site, you may be required to register and create an account. You must provide accurate and complete information during the registration process.

b. Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Use of the Site

a. Permitted Use: You may use the Site solely for the purpose of searching for missing persons or unidentified bodies, submitting relevant information, and following the procedures outlined for claiming an unknown body.

b. Prohibited Use: You may not use the Site for any illegal or unauthorized purposes. This includes, but is not limited to, using the Site to:

i. Post or transmit any content that is defamatory, obscene, threatening, or otherwise unlawful.

ii. Interfere with or disrupt the Site or its servers.

iii. Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site or its systems.

5. User-Generated Content

a. Submission of Information: You may submit information related to missing persons or unidentified bodies. You warrant that any information you submit is accurate, truthful, and does not infringe on the rights of any third party.

b. Ownership and License: By submitting content to the Site, you grant AIIMS, New Delhi and its participating centers a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, and fully sublicensable right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, and display such content throughout the world in any media.

6. Privacy and Data Protection

a. Privacy Policy: Your use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By using the Site, you consent to the collection and use of your personal information as outlined in the Privacy Policy.

b. Data Accuracy: We strive to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the data on the Site. However, we cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the information provided.

9. Limitation of Liability

a. No Liability for Consequential Damages: In no event will AIIMS, New Delhi and its participating centers be liable for any damages, including without limitation, direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with the use or inability to use the Site.

b. Indemnification: You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AIIMS, New Delhi and its participating centers, their officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or in connection with your use of the Site.

10. Modifications to the Site and These Terms

a. Changes to the Site: We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Site or any part thereof at any time without prior notice.

b. Changes to These Terms: We may revise these Terms and Conditions at any time by posting the revised terms on the Site. Your continued use of the Site following the posting of revised terms constitutes your acceptance of the modified terms.
